Question for Keyboard Political Analysts. Exactly what can Dems really do about abortion if Harris wins and they have control of Congress?

I hear statements in political ads like overturning Roe vs. Wade or restoring access to women's health. Exactly what does that mean and how would it be accomplished if the SCOTUS ended federal constitutional rights to abortion and leaving it to the states. I'm asking cause I don't know and I wonder if there is an actual process or is it lip game. :yeshrug:

Its lip game. Dems have talked about putting it into actual law but it ain't happening.

While you only need the majority to pass a bill in the US House which means you can pass something without the other party, you need 60 votes in the US Senate to pass the bill which requires approval from both parties. And I doubt Dems would have the votes to kill the filibuster to pass a bill with only 51 votes.

If she becomes president without the Senate, she can still take some action on abortion. She could use executive orders to expand access to medication abortion, allow services on federal land, and protect people from litigation for crossing state lines for care. She would also be able to veto any GOP attempt to pass a nationwide abortion ban. Lasting solutions are not possible without the Senate, though.

It took 51 years for the heritage foundation to overturn roe and they're backed by tons of Billionaires. That said, the fifth circuit is full of judges that were born in the 1930s/1940s so replacing them with Harris picks is a good start since that's where conservative groups are judge shopping these days.

If your ability to murder a baby to cover up your inability to control yourself sexually is a priority when choosing an elected official you should not be allowed to participate in the political process, marked, and placed in the bottom caste of society permenantly so your DNA doesn't continue to contaminate God’s people.

If it was possible Biden would have already did it.
Trump highlighted this in their debate with Kamala.
It's a waiting game waiting for justices to die at this point

Easier to just move to a state that already protects reproductive rights. There are plenty of them and will be even more after November. You might be waiting forever for federal changes, Trumpism and Tea Party Republicanism have really set the US back as a society.

The Supreme Court will really be the key. Unless they remove the filibuster it won't be fixed through congress.
