Question for FL Users

I see producers on youtube play a melody on their keyboard and whatever they play goes straight to the piano roll.

I've been trying to do the same except when I press record it saves what I've played as a sample in edison instead of on the piano roll.

when you hit record, a pop up box will appear; change the setting to Notes and Automation (3rd option down from the list).

It'll record your notes in to the piano roll after that.
