How often do you detangle it? In the morning or before going to bed?

What's your method?

My fro is growing and growing but I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly

Absolutely please :feedme:
How often do you detangle it? Maybe twice a week. I keep my hair in a bun a lot, and I don't get single-strand or fairy knots, so it doesn't require more than that.

In the morning or before going to bed? Generally at night before I throw my scarf on.

What's your method? Damp hair + leave-in conditioner + I use a comb. I spritz my hair with water, add a leave-in conditioner, section my hair into 4 sections, then work through each section from ends to root with a comb. Finish it off with whatever style I'll be wearing for the next few days. I tried finger detangling when I first went natural, but I have a lot of hair and I'm lazy. I have found that the more moisturized my hair is, the less detangling I need to do.

Thank you very much :salute:

How much time does that take you usually?

About 15-20 minutes, give or take. My hair doesn't really get super tangled unless I have a style in for a long time (like braids/twists), and I've been doing this same process for so long that it doesn't take me a long time to do.

I have this same brush.

Her length is crazy :ohhh:

Imagining the brush going through my naps makes me a little apprehensive but judging by her description we have the same type of hair so I'll try to cop one.

I detangled and did some twists today for the first time but what I really gotta get better at is parting the hair and maintaining it with clips, it's a struggle. I gave up for this attempt once I reached the back of the head I couldn't see what I was doing and was tired lol :russ:

Tangle Teezer The Ultimate Hairbrush, Black
Felicia Leatherwood's Detangler Brush (Black) — Brush With The Best

You can also find cheaper bootleg versions. But these are the two most popular brushes for 4c hair.

Bonus: Paddle Brush Blow Dryer
Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Styler, Black

This shyt is getting out of hands :mjcry:

I copped this as advised:

And at first it helped quite a lot, but with my afro growing and growing it doesn't do it anymore. I think I let my shyt get too tangled for it to still work. I honestly don't know how to save it or if it's even salvageable. There are so many knots :damn:

Finger detangling it would take so much time and even with that for the little itty bitty knots between two-five hairs I have to cut it with scissors. I tried to do the best I could under the shower but it's like I'm making no progress so I decided to braid and let it rest until I figure out something. I'm paying the price for all the weeks I went without detangling :snoop:

Is there a way to save natural hair when you failed to take care of them correctly?

Down to my upper lip if I pull on the front part

maybe try deep conditioning with a shower cap and any rinse out conditioner for like 30 minutes first.

i don't have 4c hair but i don't use any of those detangling brushes. if i use something to detangle i'll just use a comb

and long before natural movements black people had afros and did not care about knots. idc about knots either. u should stop worrying about them
