Question about Blade Runner and BR2049

Hey brehs,

I don't post much here but would like your advice on this. So I never managed to get through BR, all three attempts ended around the 45min mark, didn't manage to get into it. I know it's a SF classic and all that, so it pisses me off, but it is what it is. And it's no longer on Netflix here.

My question is : is BR2049 really a sequel, or not really in the sense I can watch it and understand/enjoy it without have seen BR, or will I miss too much? BR2049 is Villeneuve so I really want to see it, but I'm wondering if I should give BR one last shot before

You don't need to see the OG to get it but there are a few cool callbacks. I've had the og on blu ray for mad long and finally watched it b4 br2049 came out.

There are mad versions of the OG btw if you get it peep the directors cut.
