Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
We got a bit of a spat goin between the Miami Dolphins and Heat about who runs the city.

We at the point where the owners are throwing little jabs on Twitter and this is official merchandise:

So, it just dawned on my that Oakland is probably in the same position. A football team that used to be good. A basketball team that's captured the youth and IS good.

Are y'all a Football town or a Basketball town?

49ers lost a lot of their true fans after the switch to Santa Clara. Raiders got true fans in Oak but ever since the Warriors have been good for like 3 years it's been a basketball area.

9ers did not lose fans because of the move...stop it.. I don't know one real fan of the Niners who dropped the because the move :stopitslime:

Anyway, the bay is in a different position, we have two mlb and nfl teams that divide the area, but we all unite around the dubs. In oakland specifically, I think the raiders fans have always been more visible and have the stronger hold, this is changing as the demographics continue to shift and more (out of state) transplants move to oakland since SF is too expensive. But historically, with how black and brown oakland was, the raiders were the team.

In all, I think football >> basketball in this region, but the recent success of the giants and dubs has all three sports feeling equal.

Went to plenty of games to know that the crowd has changed. Crowd and Vibe at candle stick was way more lively than at Levi's. I also attended the whole Santa Clara meeting when the youth were fighting to keep those fields right next to Levi's and met a handful of older fans who couldn't support the niners because of the shadiness in what they were trying to do. You over here trying to sound smart but really just elongated what I said (with the exception of bringing up the mlb teams which we could do with out(in this convo) based off neither team making the playoffs.) Plain and simple the Bay Area is full of "regional fans" and support any team in the Bay Area.

I actually know someone who basically quit the Niners once they moved, but in general Dora is right - they didn't lose fans really because of the move. Fans were priced out, sure.

You said it wasn't because of the move but than say they were priced out. Why were they priced out than?

They were priced out because of the move, I didn't say anything otherwise. But not going to stadium isn't equal to stop rooting for the team

For me its basketball. Sports radio only give a fukk about the Giants abd 49ers out here. The Warriors are the best team in all of professional sports right now and these biased fukks on the radio only care about the Giants and 49ers, even in their offseason they're getting more shine than the Warriors on the radio. That shyt pisses me off.

My reply to the thread wasn't to you...lol @ trying to sound "smart"

Anyway, of course the vibe at the games changed, they specifically catered to a different crowd and priced out many OG fans, secondly many folks aren't willing to deal with the terrible commute to the stadium. They didn't lose fans because of the move, but they did kill the vibe by changing who's attending the game live.

One, sports radio still has a huge chunk of their listeners coming from baseball, so of course that gets coverage, I'd say it's the sport that does best with radio broadcast as well. Secondly, all the other teams have drama of some sort, you can only cover so much with the dubs when they're always winning, have good coaches, good ownership, getting a new arena, and have stars that don't have titilating gossip worthy personal lives.

I heard Gary Radnich say they don't talk about the Warriors because they're too good and drama free. He don't apply that same logic when the Giants are good tho. I fukking hate baseball and they talk about that shyt non-stop for hours on Gary an Larry.

Naw but the "9ers did not lose fans because of the move" was and if you affiliate with more people in real life than online you'd realize there are a good number of fans who have no interest in the 49ers anymore. Oh yeah, pricing our true fans out was a conclusion of us MOVING! Fans not wanting to commute to SC to support the team is a conclusion of MOVING. None of this pricing out bs and or catering to a different crowd would not be happening if we did not MOVE. So saying we haven't lost any fans to the move is blasphemous. I realized a lot of sports opinions on here are based off what you only see on the coli i.e. thinking the 9ers didn't lose fans coming to sc, thinking the warriors aren't the most popular team in the bay, thinking the 49ers and giants are given a fukk about rn.

Giants own a piece of KNBR. So its a given that they'll cover the Giants more. Even when the 49ers were the best team in football they talked about the Giants wayyyy more.

I think 95.7 talks about the Warriors more, but im not sure I don't listen to that station much.
