Quentin Tarantino has written the script for his next film, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the gore-hungry auteur plans to generate a “unique take” on the Manson Family murders.

Specifically, sources believe the script will revolve around the 1969 killing of famed actress Sharon Tate. Margot Robbie has reportedly been approached about the role. Tarantino faves Brad Pitt and Samuel L. Jackson are also rumored to be involved with the film, as well as Jennifer Lawrence.

The gruesome tale seems fitting material for Tarantino, who, with films like “Django Unchained” and “Inglourious Basterds,” remixes traumatic historical events to give viewers the juicy vengeance plot and narrative resolution they so intensely crave.

The legendary Hollywood tragedy ― often described as the end of the ’60s and the values of bohemian subversiveness and free love the era espoused ― occurred when failed rock star Charles Manson recruited a gaggle of lost Los Angelenos as his followers and convinced the drug-addled gang to break into a Benedict Canyon home to murder the record producer who shot him down.

Yet the home was actually occupied by Sharon Tate, married at the time to director Roman Polanski. On August 8, 1969, members of the Manson family brutally murdered the actress, who was pregnant, as well as four others staying in the house. Polanski was out of town.

The story of mass slaughter took on an aura of folklore because of its bizarre amalgamation of celebrity, drugs, sex, dashed dreams and cult hysteria.

As “Vulture” suggested, the hint that Tarantino is creating a “unique take” on the story could mean that, at least in Tarantino’s world, things end up differently for Tate and Manson. Regardless, rest assured the feature will not skimp on aestheticizing violence to surreal extremes, which, for better or worse, has become part of the cult director’s signature style.

Manson lore has been in the cultural zeitgeist over the past couple of years, thanks to Karina Longworth’s podcast “You Must Remember This,” Emma Cline’s novel The Girls and the canceled NBC series “Aquarius.”

We shudder (in a good way?) to imagine Tarantino’s take on this grisly L.A. tale.

:ehh:

Leonardo DiCaprio In The Mix For Quentin Tarantino’s Manson Murders Movie

Quentin Tarantino spent his entire career under Harvey Weinstein‘s umbrella, and has been candid about what he knew about the former mogul’s behavior, and his regrets about not taking action. The scandal is still unfolding, but Tarantino is turning his attention back to his work, and preparing his next film about the Manson murders. It would seem that regardless of his association with Weinstein, he’s still one of the hottest filmmakers in town, with major studios and A-listers lining up to collaborate with him.

Over the summer, when the project was first announced, big names like Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie and Samuel L. Jackson were revealed to be in the mix for roles, in the picture about the notorious cult leader. According to Deadline, you can add Leonardo DiCaprio in there as well, as he’s one of the people Tarantino has had “conversations” with about a role in the movie. Of course, DiCaprio previously worked with the director playing the villain in “Django Unchained.”

Tarantino and his reps have been playing hardball with the untitled picture, which is being referred to simply as “#9” since its his ninth feature. The Wrap reports that studios — which include Warner Bros., Universal Pictures and Paramount — must go to WME’s Beverly Hills offices to read the script, where they also bid for the picture. Netflix and Amazon are reportedly not in the running, which makes sense given Tarantino’s devotion to theatrical releasing. One smaller, unnamed company made a big offer to take on the movie without even reading the script (my guess is that it was Neon or A24, who would love to have a Tarantino sized project in their stable).

As for the movie little is known, however, the word is that the character of Manson himself might only be featured in a small number of scenes, not unlike how Hitler was essentially a cameo in “Inglourious Basterds.”

The plan is for Tarantino’s next movie to shoot in 2018, and hit cinemas in 2019.

How is he going to fit 374 "niqqers" into this script:jbhmm:
Do you know what Manson's theory about Helter Skelter about? Inciting a race war between blacks and whites that would bring about the collapse of civilization.

So the answer to your question is "Very, very easily."
