i still cant believe how bad of a coach rambis is
know i no why derek fisher ( another horrible coach) kept giving him the :what: face and stopped inviting him to meetings
its a sad day when derek knows more about coaching and basketball team than you
rambis is really really bad
i wouldnt mind if jackson decides to leave next year if all hes gonna do is sign interchangebale free agents and have his out of date triangle buddies run/ruin the team

The good news...

KOQ is starting to do good things out there the past handful of games, not great, but solid and certainly good enough for a back-up role with his contract.

Grant is showing that potential from the beginning of the season, just moving faster and being more involved in things. His potential is undeniable, whether he develops the jumper and instincts remains to be seen. He still plays like a rookie and a work in progress, but he needs reps to end this season.

D-Will when his jumper is falling can be a terror. Defense has slipped a notch but I still like his potential to have a big quarter that either keeps us in a game or gives us an edge.

Melo is scoring efficiently and compiling nice assist and rebound numbers on most nights now. It might not contribute to wins now, but if he can keep it up to close out the year...his trade value improves and his selling value to FA's increases, so either way the Knicks move it's a promising feature.

Bad news...
Everyone else was lethargic. I hate Lance's game with a passion, but he at least brings energy consistently.

RoLo was terrible and tried to fake energy by acting mad.

KP has been looking hurt or fatigued or something since before Fish got fired and it's been worse under Rambis. KP was always kinda a momentum guy, who'd get hot for stretches where his impact would explode on both ends but Rambis' short hooks mitigate that almost entirely.

AA had nothing for Gary Harris.

Calderon wasn't bad...but anything that even moves the scale a little bit toward the Knicks being willing to settle on another year of dude is a bad news.

The Random Stuff...
I wonder what kinda contract Augustin is gonna be seeking...not ideal, but if we're building instead of rushing for results, he's a solid stop gap PG with upside. If we added Thibs, that'd be a nice connection to help the system run. He's gotta be the cheapest alternative I see to the names thrown around most commonly.

Add Lauvergne and Barton to my list of role players on other teams that I wish we had a way to go after (Patterson over in Toronto being an example).

I like Blatt more than most. I think he's creative, I think he was undermined a lot. I don't think he's perfect, but he was a rookie head coach, many coaches do better their second time around.

I'd certainly prefer him to the list of people that are currently being floated (shaw/MOARrambis).

Co-sign a lot of this. I like what Blatt's done everywhere but Cleveland (granted in limited exposure) and I put him above the majority of our realistic options.

Personally, I'd agree that maybe rondo for two years at 8M is better than Conley at 20+ -- but I'm actually a little worried about the Melo/Rondo mix. In Boston it took KG (specifically) Paul Pierce AND Ray Allen PLUS Doc (not a great coach, but a great manager of egos/personalities) to keep Rondo on the rails, and going hard every night. I'm not totally sure we have that, unless Phil specifically got heavily involved.

On top of that Rondo is 30. He's definitely lost a step, he's till athletic, and still creative with the ball in his hands, and he might even be the kind of headstrong point guard that I've advocated for - the type that knows when NOT to give the ball to Melo. But I just can't personally get behind the move. Feels like a short term fix, and the truth is, even though many won't want to hear it -- next season is still going to very much be a rebuilding year. We might be in low-key tank mode again. :guilty:

Yeah, I should preface my Rondo post with the fact that this is more of a move I do if we can't get something quality back for Melo and are running through next season with the mind that Melo's staying. It's a stop gap in the purest form, you can't risk more than a year and a player option to make it happen bc it's crazy combustible. But I think it'd be worth the risk because we have our pick, so if it blows up...we add a strong young cat next to KP and (hopefully) Grant plus we have a better chance for Melo to waive the NTC. I think there are worse scenarios; namely, giving Conley that big pay day and finding out that he's not gonna give us much more than Rondo would have for less years and money or we throw max money at Dwight Howard just because he's a max guy with interest (aka the Amare...or the Tyson Chandler depending on how you shake it). I think Melo's friendship with Rondo and Rondo's big intelligence could actually have the lightning in a bottle effect (25% chance which is probably our best odds at a surprise season next year barring some major offseason surprises). The system allows for creative cutting and passing and Rondo is a heavy duty student of the game...he may enjoy the challenge more than he's played at so far.

Sign d12

Flip lopez for a young 2way wing player

If we're gonna sign a big to flip RoLo, we should prolly kick the tires on Horford first and foremost. Better fit, doesn't look like he's regressing physically and can play F/C which means you can pick match-ups for KP on the other end.
