Pretty much. It's like hard techno or something. It sure as hell isn't dubstep like Americans want to classify it as, it's just a descendant of the same techno that has been in clubs for a long ass time now.

A recent girlfriend had an older brother that was into that type of shyt, and tried to use that as a reason why she didn't like dubstep. Now, I'm a neophyte that got his introduction to the sound through the '09 5 Years of Hyperdub comp, but I know what dubstep is and isn't (I kind of take that dub+2 step garage definition literally, so I also have a healthy dose of Deep Medi and Dungeon sound shyt in the diet, but that's just me).
I couldn't have put on Memories of the Future and the Burial self-titled fast enough.
