Not trying to make this about the Israel/Palestine conflict or their domestic lobbies but it doesn't look good when two of the wealthiest universities in America, whose endowments should be fukk you money, have caved to Trump and Pro-Israel interests about the personnel and content of their Middle Eastern Studies Departments. Regardless of what they were saying as far as anti-semitism etc., Columbia is basically putting theirs under 'outside supervision' and Harvard just fired the leaders for its center. Any time we call out the race realists etc. in academia they howl about free expression etc.

I can't help but feel the Black/African-American Studies departments are next for 'anti-American' or 'racist' content. Conservative ideologues have been railing against Black studies and professors for years (I remember Dinesh D'Souza in the 90s losing his mind over this). They already showed weakness and the sharks smell blood.

The late, great Chancellor Williams in his seminal work The Destruction of Black Civilization prophetically stated as much. Quoting a White university administrator in the 1970s (p. 319)

We are not disturbed by their demands for Black Studies, for these, of course will be gradually phased out as their emotions cool

It took a lot longer but we may be here?

Above the fray.
Doc Ban,

We are here. Eventually he will try to alter Black Studies Depts. at HBCUs . In North Carolina, magas in state legislature are using Trump momentum to remove DEI depts and course requirements for public colleges.
Black History and Studies depts will be next.
Certain that those plans are in the works in every state that has Historically Black colleges.

Trump attacked the top endowment schools in multiple ways. Fact that they conceded shows that a majority of their dozens of billionaire/millionaire alumni/donors agree with the direction that Trump is taking.

They'll definitely come after black studies. For the black studies, some of these partnerships with non-American universities may be able to incorporate the Black studies. Make it part of that country's/university's curriculum and help tailor their own curriculum to somehow connect their own country's history with Black American's own. It gets billed as the history of that country's people there and abroad (US). This forces Trump to be overly aggressive in his attempt to stifle black history and show his hand if he tried. This may deter him from doing so since that will put him at odds with even more countries.

Its disturbing how almost every institution is bending the knee. Colleges, corporations and law firms. All we have is ourselves.
As an organization If a significant amount of your funding or contracts come from the federal government you really have no choice but to bend the knee
