issued an half-assed apology……read their reply below.

Barneys New York typically does not comment on pending litigation. In this instance, we feel compelled to note that after carefully reviewing the incident of last April, it is clear that no employee of Barneys New York was involved in the pursuit of any action with the individual other than the sale. Barneys New York has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination and we stand by our long history in support of all human rights.”

Now, there is also a petition for Jay Z to remove his line from Barneys. The petition reads:

Recently, we have learned the shocking news that a young college student Trayon Christian (a black male) was arrested in NYC after making a $350 purchase at Barneys New York. According to The Post, following his purchase, he was stopped by police officers, allegedly called by a Barneyssales clerk, who believed the transaction was fraudulent. After hours being held in a precinct cell, Trayon was released with no charges.

Just days later, Kayla Phillips, a 21-year-old black woman, came forward with her similar story of discrimination. Kayla says that she was surrounded by police and questioned after she purchased a handbag from the store. She was also incorrectly accused of using a fraudulent card.

We can no longer tolerate blatant prejudice and discrimination. It is clear that the minority buying power is devalued by some. We must withdraw support to those who will not support us.

I’ve been a lifelong Jay Z fan. Jay Z is currently in partnership with BarneysNew York for the release of his holiday collection — called “A New York Holiday” (or BNY SCC). Barneys lacks any connection with the black and hip-hop community. And without his vast wealth and brand power, they would see him the same as they see Trayon Christian. Jay Z should be appalled byBarneys actions, and withdraw all support from them. If he does this, he will send a clear message to all corporations that are likeminded, that this behavior cannot be tolerated any longer.

Since The Daily News Cover, Barneys has now issued a more apologetic letter to the public…..

Barneys New York believes that no customer should have the unacceptable experience described in recent media reports, and we offer our sincere regret and deepest apologies.

Further to our statement of yesterday, we want to reinforce that BarneysNew York has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination. We are a strong proponent of equal rights and equal treatment for all human beings. Our mission is to ensure that all customers receive the highest-quality service—without exception.

To this end, we are conducting a thorough review of our practices and procedures as they relate to these matters to ensure that they reflect our continued commitment to fairness and equality. To lead this review, we have retained a civil rights expert, Michael Yaki, who also serves on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. The Commission has been the nation’s watchdog for civil rights for more than 50 years. Mr. Yaki will be provided with unrestricted access to all aspects of our store operations.

In addition, Barneys New York has reached out to community leaders to begin a dialogue on this important issue.

Sincerely,

Mark Lee

Let's say if Jay-Z was caught up in some racist scandal like caught on tape saying "fukk these Cracker ass crackers, when I was hustling 60 hours straight eating Oreo cookies to survive these white devils were lounging in their pools molesting children and stealing water from African villages"

Barney's would drop him like a coke habit

But Jay-Z being the " business" man that he is probably will sweep this shyt under the rug and continue on counting his money...

Im still disgusted that a black man would save 350 dollars to buy a fukking belt.

It's his money that he earned legally so he can do whatever the fukk he wants with it. His spending habits aren't what's at debate right now it's how he was treated while spending legal money at an establishment that viewed him as nothing more than a common criminal. That man was ******ized for NO reason whatsoever

It doesn't diminish what this young man went through, but at the same I know that money could have been spent towards something productive. I can't cosign black spending that much money to make white people richer. It is sickening. Show me a white kid that drops the same amount for a black clothing line.

so what the fukk is your solution :what:

sounds like you're saying jay-z should end his business partnership with barneys, while advocating nikkas continue to frivilously make whites wealthier.

how about jay-z continues to do his thing and dumb ass nikkas stop rushing out to spend their entire check on some goddamn clothes. "n!ggerized" or not, it's incredibly stupid and we need to call out this behavior if y'all really support the idea of group economics.
