PS5 and Xbox2 will both launch fall 2021

Anyone who thinks otherwise need to consider a few things.

1. PS5 needs to run on a 7nm APU in order to see a generational leap in graphics
2. Sony pushing VR and PS5 needs to be as powerful as they can make it while keeping it to $500 or less. VR games need to run 90fps minimum. PSVR2 will probably display 4k per eye when it launches a few years after PS5.
3. Most importantly a very mature 7nm process for consumer products won't be feasible until 2021. We don't have any 7nm consumer products on the market now and won't in 2019 either.
4. 2021 means they could have Zen3 CPU on that APU and a post Navi GPU
5. This would be a true next gen upgrade like going from SNES to N64 instead of more like NES to SNES like the move from PS3 to PS4 was.
6. Xbox needs to launch same time for maximum sales/profits. Xbox X proves no one cares about them being more powerful cuz no exclusives

Ok...why not just enjoy this gen for what it is and wait a couple of years for the official announcement? Who the hell is thinking about next gen consoles when we are just now getting to what this gen was supposed to be (4k/60fps, etc)?

Last gen was seen as way too long. They aren't going to turn around and have an even longer one when technology moves at a much more rapid pace. Hell,one of the major reasons last gen was even so long was because of the recession.

Companies like Sony now rightfully see PC as their competition and know they can't just sit in their hands while PC blazes ahead in tech .That's the entire reason for the PRO and 1 x,a response and acknowledgement to the PC market.

Game studios are struggling to keep up with tech. Where a game could be Made In 1-2 years before it now takes 3-6 years. Not many have the means to be like ubisoft and have 800 people working on 1 game.

Even if the gen ran until 2021 it's not like a bunch of studios can turn around another game in that time. Naughty dog dropped 4 games last gen. Now they're going to release only 2 this gen regardless of when it ends.

Nah, look to the cell phone market. The PS4 Pro and Xbone X proved people will pay for mid cycle upgrades. As for technological upgrades you livin in the 32 bit era. The jump from previous consoles wasn't that significant and we are looking at diminishing returns in terms of graphics.

People really need to stop thinking there is a “gen” anymore. It’s all going to run in a continuous cycle without much rhyme or reason when newer tech is out to feed the gamers.

What Sony and Microsoft will inevitably need to do is start locking people out of more demanding games over time within the OS updates.

That’s the only logical way to do this in such a locked ecosystem. The Apple way.
