Just as they did in
September, Sony will be holding a beta for an upcoming PlayStation 4 firmware update, letting you test out some of the new features.
Sign ups are available now in
North America and
Europe, and those chosen to participate in the PS4 update 3.50 beta will receive an email in early March with instructions on downloading the system software. There will only be a limited number of people accepted to the beta, so Sony urges you to register as soon as possible.
“You can roll back to the previous system software at any time, so don’t worry about downloading the beta,” PlayStation’s John Koller adds. “In order to sign up, you’ll need a PS4 with an Internet connection and a master account.”
In the Confidential Beta Agreement you have to agree to, Sony reveals that you’re only able to talk about the new features in the
official forum:
You must keep confidential all information relating to the beta software and the beta. You must not discuss the beta with anyone except us and other people taking part in the beta (“Beta Testers”). In particular, you must not discuss the beta with anyone associated with a competing videogame format or publisher, a news or information service (whether television, magazine, newspaper or otherwise) or in any online forum or chat room, other than our official beta forum. Any codes or passwords which give access to beta software or beta forums are personal to you and must not be shared with anyone else.
Koller says we’ll learn more about PS4 update 3.50’s features when the beta begins.
