Republic of New Afrika 50th Year Commemoration
In March 1968, 500 black nationalists of various backgrounds and affiliations convened in Detroit at the Black Government Conference to seriously address the question of black nationhood. Out of this gathering, the Provisional Government of the Republic of New Afrika (PG-RNA) was created. After collectively deciding on an official national name (New Afrikan), and identifying the land mass upon which to establish this nation (Black Belt South), the PG-RNA issued the New Afrikan Declaration of Independence.
Over the past 50 years, the PG-RNA has engaged in continuous and uncompromising struggle to achieve independence and reparations for our black nation. Today, national independence remains the movement’s central objective.
This event commemorating the founding of the PG-RNA will last from Thursday, March 29 to Sunday, April 1 and will feature some of today’s leading nationalist voices along with programming essential for political education and nation-building.
Join us as we return to Detroit to commemorate the beginning of the movement, analyze the present day, and map our path to victory, as we reaffirm our commitment to FREE THE LAND!
