You obviously never checked out VICE magazine or the VICE website in the 2000s if you're saying this.
VICE was very racist back then. They never featured Black People or Black artists even though they had a record review section and the VICE website comment section back then was ripe with slurs and racism. There was one feature I remembered where some white editor was openly dissing Ghostface Killah and his music and it was really fukking racist.
I say this because I used to check them out but then noticed how they focused mainly on white hipster culture with some asians in between...but never featured anything with Black people unless it was a feature about Black Women in lingerie living in Sweden that was white male focused. And this was back when VICE magazine was a free magazine in American Apparel and 70% of it was ads.
I stopped checking for the magazine in 2010
The only time I checked out their channel was for Desus & Mero.
Even VICE now is pretty shytty. Sure, they feature Black People on their site and channel, but its always some depricating shyt like "The VICE guide to Liberia" or highlighting dyfunction and chaos in Black countries like Haiti. Or it's a VICE tour of Houston and Chicago gangs and its like some white boy National Geographic safari in the hood.
And VICE seemingly has a fetish covering neo-nazis and white supremacist groups. Its sickening.
VICE has had more denigrating images of Black People on its channel than Fox News.
Without Desus & Mero or Action Bronson or Eddie Huang it makes you realize VICE's "urban edge" is just manufactured and forced much like the hipster presence that invaded NYC.
Facts!!! even longtime venue owners around Kent Avenue in Brooklyn were pissed at vice bought out so much space to expand their media Empire after getting that Rupert Murdoch.
So many businesses closed during that time too.
