The U.S. government projects to make more money off student loans this fiscal year than ExxonMobil, Apple, J.P. Morgan Chase or Fannie Mae made on their respective businesses last year, a new analysis shows.

According to the Congressional Budget Office's latest projections, the federal government projects a record $50-billion profit on student loans this year.

ExxonMobil made $44.9 billion in 2012, according to published reports, making it the most profitable company in the country

Stupid how they call it "financial aid" when it's really just a loan that has to be paid back with interest :shaq2:

Without them, you wouldn't be able to get a loan. They helped you get it, dummy.

Hence; aid.

:what: how they gonna charge you interest and on top of that take taxes from the high paying job you used the degree to get?

They are two separate things. It's really not double dipping like you suggest. Not everyone gets a high paying job with their government loaned college degree. However, everyone gets taxed, if they work.

If you are disabled and you have student loans you can get them discharged. Down side is you can't get another student loan easily.

The post is a few months back, but yes, education in this country is far too expensive.
And if you even bring up some of the Scandinavian or European systems behind education, the US Media machine labels you a communist.
