With two of Marvel's 2018 releases both expected to kick off production in just about a week's time, it was only a matter of time before we got an official update on the third, Ant-Man and the Wasp!

Starting this year, Marvel Studios will begin releasing three films in a calendar year instead of the usual two we've become so accustomed to and they're kicking off their new normal with three of their heaviest hitters: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok in May, July, and November, respectively. Then, in 2018, they'll continue to up the ante with Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The first two of those three 2018 releases are expected to kick off production in Atlanta within the next two weeks or so, which should give both studios more than enough time to complete the projects ahead of their respective February and May release dates. As for Ant-Man and the Wasp, things have been relatively quiet on that front recently, but it looks like we may have just received some concrete information regarding when Marvel plans on getting the ball rolling on that one.

According to a new listing on My Entertainment World, the upcoming sequel to 2015's Ant-Man will begin filming this June in Atlanta, which is just a little over a year ahead of its already assigned July 2018 release date. Paul Rudd & Evangeline Lilly will headline the film with a supporting cast that currently includes only Michael Douglas and Michael Peña. No word yet on the villain.

While nothing has been confirmed, Rudd has been rumored to have some sort of involvement in the upcoming Infinity War, but whether or not he shows up in the first part or in the 2019 sequel is uncertain at this point. As for Lilly, she previously confirmed that she won't be joining the team until the still untitled Avengers 4, which makes sense considering Hope van Dyne has yet to officially take on the Wasp mantle on-screen.

I assume this is the official thread for ant-man stuff

Earlier today we brought you guys a description of the costume Brie Larson will be sporting as Captain Marvel, and now we have a breakdown of some of the Ant-Man and The Wasp concept art that was on display during today's Marvel Studios tour.

The images showed Paul Rudd's hero in Giant Man mode, as well as the character "using everyday objects made giant (such as a human-sized Ant-Man holding an oversized plastic soda bottle to spray bad guys with.)" Another pic apparently featured "an adorable, giant dog with a car in its jaws." It sounds like Lang still hasn't quite mastered Hank Pym's tech yet!

Plus, it's been confirmed that both Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne will be debuting brand new costumes for the sequel.

Here's an excerpt from THR's report, which includes quotes from director Peyton Reed:

"The suits are one thing on the comic page. They are fantastic. When you actually have to make it seem realistic in the real world, in three dimensions, you've got to buy it. It's got to be credible," said Reed of the challenge. He noted in the first Ant-Man, the team intentionally made the costume look old school, with the idea that the suit was outdated Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) technology.

Ant-Man received an upgrade in last year's Captain America: Civil War, and that will continue with Ant-Man and The Wasp. "This is a whole new suit," Reed said, calling it the "3.0" suit. "It's fun, because it's very specific for the needs of the story."

Ant Man is probably my favorite Marvel flick so far. I'm looking forward to this.
