I'm in a dorm room so I don't actually have much of a choice in having to get equipment that fits in small places but still.....:yeshrug:Producers out here with all sorts of flashy equipment and shyt...Lots of it is useless in correlation with the music they're making. $1000 dollar audio interfaces? :hhh: $1000 stereo monitors? :hhh: $500 dollar midi keyboards?:hhh:fukk is up with that :gucci:...My entire studio setup (Minus the computer, that is) costs under $500 itself and I'm eating well from it. :mjlol:Let me put ya'll nikkas on game.

$310 for my setup.

With the computer it's up to $610 but even that's a good price for the bulk. considering some of ya'll have mixing boards that cost more than my entire setup. :gucci:

When I produced my setup was similar. I even had them same Sony headphones for a while lmao. A midi keyboard( I prefer a 61 key), laptop and decent speakers is really all you need.I never even used an mpc. I need to start producing again, shyt was great:banderas:.

Mainly cause it's time consuming. I could literally spend 4 hours digging for samples or designing sound and it'll feel like 20 minutes. I'm definitely going to start again this year, it was too fun. See you got FL on deck:salute:. Ever use any other daws?

I took a long hiatus from producing just a while back too, sometimes you just have to do that. And I have yet to fully use another DAW outside of FL. I tried Reason and Ableton but, couldn't get them to flow with me like FL does.

Reason was just OK to me. I used FL primarily cause the work flow is just too perfect. I feel like ableton sounds really crisp( idk maybe im just tripping) but the work flow was a hassle.

You're not tripping....Ableton sounds the best but, the workflow is def a hassle.

Some cats have full fledged studios though.

There was a point where I had cats come over to lay verses as well and I have guitars (electric, electric acoustic) that I will play live into. My boy has brought over his loop machine so he can multi track loops on his guitar.

Your equipment depends on how deep the hobby goes.

The bottom line is it all depends what your goals are.
Not you specifically, but I've seen people argue all day about how all you need is $200 worth of equipment but they only reason they feel that way is because that's all they can afford whether they want to admit it or not.

Agreed, what I have is good enough to do what I need it to do and I'm content but let me run up on some real money and I'm upgrading everything from computer to my synth/midi controller, speakers etc and finding a need for new shyt.

You don't have to spend a million dollars to make dope music, but the more serious you get the more you'll realize $500 worth of gear is nothing and you'll be very limited.
