Needle: vids working for me homie.

Dippa: sounds to me like flange effect, something like mid side stereo processing but gives it a lot more distance, use it with side chain compression to maximize the snare sound.

flange effect on the drums with side chain compression, kinda loose goosey on the flange, you can hear the snare panning and you can definitely hear the flange, buuuuut the snare ,(sound of the flange) can be controlled to stay more centered and less flangey. I personally wanted it the way it is.

So you put the flange effect on the entire drums? Even the kick? And what did you use to make this? I got FL Studio 9 its cool but the effects it has are kinda :francis:
Beat was dope as hell by the way.

I added the flange effect to the snare which is mostly panned to the right and the hi-hat also has the flanged effect but that one I added mid side stereo processing so it has more stereo-esque.wide sound to it, the flange effect brought it out a ton more but gave it distance to everything else. The kick is plain, just added mid side compression to make it oomph and not collide with the bass. I'm just a bedroom producer who has secrets, errr techniques more like it. I use ableton live 9, don't think I could explain how to do the flange effect on FL (even tho I'd like to, I've got nothing to hide). I have my own ableton presets of the flange effects tho, let me know if you ever switch to ableton I'll be more than glad to share them with you and my techniques  .

I've never touched FL studio but, Ableton has amazing effect racks on it's own. I went from shytty Reason 4.0 to Ableton years ago and I've never looked back. I was using Reason when it never even supported plug-ins lolol talk about shytty deals. I sat down one day and was like okay time to learn this ableton ,took plenty of years experimenting but it was worth it. Check it out bro, promise you it's not wack, I'll even help you out homie.

I hardly ever flange... What are some scenarios you use that are a good flange moment? I use ableton btw. I can produce some decent arrangements( mix on the other hand...) but I'd like to have that in my tool bag too. I think I tried it on the cymbal on this, too much high end on this anyways. Ear fatigued.

ibrokemyneck: Aloha, I'll PM you a preset I created/tweaked of that flange effect I've been explaining. You also have to realize I use this preset along side plug-ins and use EQ but I'll send you 2 pre-sets, one to "beef-up" the snare and the flange effect, they both go together well. But yea tweak with the presets and see what knob does what, the flange effect I'm sending you is a cleaner version of what I used, less flangey and less panned, but you still can catch a little "phasing" but not too much.
That trap beat is nice as hell too btw. I can hear some white noise from the
beginning and ending about :50 sec, was that intentional?

ibrokemyneck: I never even answered your question either, my bad. Some scenarios to the "arrangement" I assume you're referring to? I try to use the flanging on synth arrangements, but the cool thing with flanging that I like personally is that it gives distance to a sample, I mean if you tweak it the way you want you can get what you want, maybe not with every sample but try using the preset after EQ-ing and adding whatever plug-ins you use, I usually use the flange thing after I mix on the go just to see if it'll work, and most times it does. To be honest I dreaded the word "flange" cause I knew to my ear I'd hear a lot of "phasing" and in my own work that's a no no, but just by experimenting and tweaking I have the flexibility thru ableton to suppress that "phasing" from flanging just within that rack that ableton supplies.
