WHAT: OTX (Overtime Boxing) will have its first fight night of the year at OTE Arena on March 29th.

In our main event, in association with Viva Promotions, Elijah “The Wolf” Pierce* (18-2, 15 KO), fresh off his three-round knockout victory over Mike Plania last year at OTX, is set to clash with former World Title challenger Arthur Villanueva (35-4-1, 20 KO) from the Philippines in a highly anticipated main event. Pierce aims to extend his impressive winning streak.

Our co-main event features OTX veteran Haven “The Prince of Georgia” Brady* (11-0, 4 KO) will face the up-and-coming Puerto Rican prospect Waldemir Areizaga (8-0, 4 KO). This matchup promises to deliver non-stop action as Brady seeks to protect his perfect record.

Dacarree “Mac Truck” Scott (8-1, 7 KO) and Teddy Webster (6-2, 2 KO) are both poised to make their OTX debuts in OTX’s first ever clash of Heavyweights. A born-and-bred-Atlanta fighter, “Mack Truck” is sure to bring out the hometown crowd in a bout that's sure to capture the audience's attention.

Olympic medalist Oshae Jones* (5-0, 1 KO) will make her awaited return to OTX against Sonya Dreiling (6-4-0) in a women’s bout. In her last match, Oshae stopped Samantha Pill in the first round so we know she’s going to deliver a show.

Giovanni Marquez* (8-0, 5 KO), a rising star, aims to maintain his unbeaten streak at OTX against the rugged Luis Jacobo Rodriguez (6-1-2, 4 KO). Marquez left a lasting impression last year, knocking out Nicky Vitone in just 2 rounds, and looks to deliver another explosive performance.

New Yorker Donte Layne* (1-0, 1 KO) is set to go toe-to-toe with the athletic DeShun Mitchell (2-0, 2 KO) in a super middleweight division clash. Layne, who made an impactful professional debut at OTX last year with a TKO victory over Nathan Mitchell, is ready to showcase his talent and ambition in the ring once again.

THE SCOOP:
  • Smaller Ring: The ring is 18x18 vs. the standard 20-22 square foot which means extra action for the fans.

  • KO Bonuses: If a fighter gets a KO at any point in the fight, they are entitled to a bonus

  • Money Round: The first and last rounds serve as the “Money Round” where fighters receive a more lucrative bonus compared to a general KO

  • Overtime Round: If there was a draw after the regularly scheduled rounds, there was an additional winner take all round

For the first time, as part of OTX’s partnership with DAZN, all fights will be distributed not just on the DAZN app, but streamed on DAZN’s social media channels and Overtime’s social media channels. This innovative approach increases access in a sport that often has barriers to bringing in new fans, with limited availability to watch the fights without a paid subscription.

ERGASHEV AND SHISHKIN SEEK IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCES TO MAINTAIN THEIR POSITIONS ON THE WORLD STAGE HIGHLIGHTING “BIG TIME BOXING USA” THIS THURSDAY, MARCH 28 STREAMED LIVE ON DAZN FROM WAYNE STATE FIELDHOUSE IN DETROIT

DETROIT – March 27, 2024 – While 2016 Colombian Olympian Juan Carrillo will be looking to continue his undefeated professional record in the night’s 10-round light heavyweight main event against veteran Quinton Rankin, two other transplanted Detroit-based fighters in the Salita Promotions stable: recent world-title challenger Shohjahon Ergashev, and super middleweight contender Vladimir Shishkin, will be fighting to regain or maintain their positions in the world rankings.

The trio of exciting fights highlight the next installment of “Big Time Boxing USA” presented by Salita Promotions this Thursday, March 28, at Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit and streamed live on DAZN (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT). Tickets for the live event are on sale now and can be purchased online HERE or in-person at the Wayne State Fieldhouse Box Office.

“These fights are really lined up to be exciting because there are truly big fights on the horizon with victories on Thursday night,” said Dmitriy Salita, President of Salita Promotions. “Shishkin is deserving of a world title fight and has the skills and pedigree to beat anyone in the division, while Ergashev is eager to show that he’s still one of the best fighters at 140 pounds. Super middleweight and super lightweight are two of the deepest divisions in the sport and these fighters are right in the mix.”

IBF #14-ranked Ergashev (23-1, 20 KOs), who will be entering the ring for the first time since his unsuccessful challenge for Subriel Matias’ IBF World Super Lightweight Championship last year, will take on Panama City veteran Juan Huertas (17-4-1, 13 KOs) in the 10-round super lightweight co-main event, while IBF #2 and WBO #10 Shishkin (15-0, 9 KOs) returns to battle the always tough Mike Guy (12-7-1, 5 KOs) in the 10-round super middleweight broadcast opener.

32-year-old Ergashev had looked, at times, unstoppable while dominating other then-undefeated prospects in nationally televised showdowns, including a TKO 3 over unbeaten Sonny Fredrickson and a unanimous decision over Mykal Fox, but ran into the fists of Matias, while also suffering a leg injury that hampered his performance, last November.
Ergashev, who has continued to work with renowned trainer SugarHill Steward for the fight against Huertas, will be looking to use the leverage of an impressive performance to regain the top-10 ranking he previously enjoyed.

However, if the slugger’s confidence was affected by the loss to Matias, he could be in for a rough night against Huertas, who in his nearly 11-year boxing career has held several national and regional championships, including the Panamanian Super Featherweight, WBA Fedecentro Super Featherweight, WBA Fedelatin Super Featherweight, and WBO Latino Lightweight titles.

Against Sacramento’s Guy, Shishkin will need to pull through victorious if he is to keep his valuable #2 ranking for an eventual lucrative and potentially star-making shot at Canelo Alvarez’s IBF World Championship.
