But wouldn't you offer less money to someone that wants out of town? Seems like a loss of leverage.

If someone was comfortable staying in town you would have to offer someone more to leave the town.


Maybe I'm not understanding the tactic that is playing out.....

The Ravens don't even have Huntley under contract yet either.

He's on a one year tender. Tyler Huntley has until April 21 to find a better offer and the Ravens can match it if they want. Otherwise he getting his couple Milly with the Ravens.

Question becomes does another team want to change their offense for him or trust him enough to thrive in a different offense. Tyler is probably most valuable to the Ravens right now.

Why deal with a disgruntled player when you can unloaded the guy for a couple first rounders?

Now you gotta take time as an organization to smooth things over if you match a contract.

Plus the Ravens have no interest in a long term contract without deep playoff runs. Ravens were essentially at 3 years fully guaranteed. Joe Flacco had to go to 3 AFC title games, Outduel Brady in New England a couple times, Win a Superbowl and get Superbowl MVP to get the big contract, lol.

They're not going to match a significant offer.

. They had no plans to match....Lamar just had to find more than 3yrs/133 to make it look legit. They did mutual benefit franchise tag. Calculated risk.
