It can't just be "rebooted"
It DOESN'T work without Michael Schofield, then the other characters like T-Bag, Bellick, Mahone, Abruzzi. Plus the fast pace and twist and turns.
This will be like when they tried to "reboot" 24 without Jack Bauer
It NEEDS Michael Schofield or else it's just another prison show.

First two seasons are great.
But to answer your question the show and characters were too popular so they had to extend the storyline.
The show has only be brought back one time (season 5).
One of them did "die" and then was resurrected for the revival season which was season 5.

This shyt gonna go the way of fast and furious with how crazy things getting....i turned the new season off after watching dude running from a random car. That shyt look outdated and it was like 2017
The show peaked when they found DB Coopers money.
Really good television at the time. When shows had a new episode a week and a mid season break around the holidays. The show just kept boiling and cooking. By the first episode of season 2 the shyt was off the thermometer.
New shows just can’t compare, everything now is just some long epic drama with payoffs every few episodes to create the illusion of good tv (GOT wannabes).
Naww prison break gave you something every episode. It was like a season premiere every week.
The problem came because the show just got to epic that it had to go off the rails to unbelievable levels.
By the end of season 2 it became the exact opposite of what it used to be. Season 3 was a wet dream. Season 4 never worked because the characters had checked out and the show just lost its way.

Michael Schofield is a great character and has more to offer. He could be doing heist and all kinds of shyt. They dropped the ball with that character imo.
