it would have been similar to what Lennox did to a shot Mike.
Prime larry would have worked that jab on Mike everytime he came in and kept moving not allowing him to get inside and plant to throw those combos.
The jab would have eventually softened him up and around 8 or 9th round, Larry would be landing heavy rights on him off the jab and i think he would have eventually knocked him out.
Thing is that Larry Holmes style is the perfection of the Ali style and that style was everything you didn't want going against the perfection of the Cus style.
two styles you don't want against the cus style, you don't want a power puncher with length and a jab (Foreman, Liston) and you don't want a active jab and plenty movement to maintain range (Ali, holmes)

Mike was nice early on, but he didn't fight any ATG in his prime or in their prime, and the ATG's he fought close to their prime beat him
I like him, but historically its hard to rank him highly against some of the others because his resume is weak ad he didn't have a long dominance.
Joe vs Larry seems pointless to me, you saw him vs Ali, why see him against the same style?

I can't think of any level where Larry had greater durability than Ali. larry had a jab as good as pre-exile Ali, but he didn't have Ali's power. he did have a greater affinity for not getting into brawls and maintining discipline though, and Joe didn't have enough hate in his heart to go through the hell he would go through to fukk Ali up, so it just doesn't seem like it would be great fight IMHO. Definitely no better than any of the Joe vs Ali fights. imho

Let's not forget, Ali told us he was gonna quit in Ali/Frazier 3...but Frazier beat him too it. Series could've just as easily went down in history as 2-1 Frazier instead of 2-1 Ali

joe didn't quit, Ali quit, Eddie Futch called the fight and Joe never talked to him again after doing it. Joe was ready to die in the ring that die.

I think Holmes would have boxed Joe to a borning decision truthfully. He wouldn't engage in the in fighting that Ali had a habit of getting into, shyt would have been methodical as hell and boring. IMHO.
I don't know breh...Larry Holmes was cocky too. I think he would've said some stuff about Frazier that would've pissed Frazier off.
And also, they were both from Pennsylvania, so not only would a "who's the better Heavyweight?" be on the line...an interstate rivalry would be at play as well as to who was really the top dog outta Pennsylvania.
