it's crazy that this doesn't get as much spotlight as the poverty in the Appalachian Mountains
I'm gonna see if there's some sort of service project where you can go and help build houses down there or something

West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity – Tutwiler, MS
West-Tallahatchie_habitat.jpg

Mission:
The mission of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the face of the earth by building adequate and basic housing. Furthermore, all of our words and actions are for the ultimate purpose of putting shelter on the hearts and minds of people in such a powerful way that poverty housing and homelessness become socially, politically and religiously unacceptable in our nations and world. West Tallahatchie Habitat for Humanity builds houses for community members in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. All of our houses are built with volunteer labor from groups across the United States.

Bama ass DC
Mississippi will always be like that. They're so anti blacks that they always go super heavy republican and fight against themselves. Them white folk don't think they're poor down there and will rather sacrifice themselves to keep black folk down.
Ms is basically last in every category and has been for the longest. They do nothing to bring funds to the state.
The best saying for being from Alabama is "thank god for mississippi":whew:

This is why I get annoyed/mad when I always the US and celebs doing everything under the sun for other countries. Donating money, building schools and homes, sending supplies when they have people desperately in need right here. I never understood that. Especially black celebrities. I have donated to other countries before, but it was the same things I donated for things here. I know people who do both, but why is it that people are always so quick to run overseas vs help people here?

My dad's side of the family is from Clarksdale, ain't been done there since I was 11 or 12. But yeah that poverty is real. I was in Itta Bena at MVSU last year, and those country towns don't have anything out there! I can't see how my cousin survives in that town.

Check out this film called Ballast, those pictures reminded me of that movie
