Akino Arai isn't exactly Jpop. shes like.... doing her own thing. It's like how we say Steely Dan and Joni Mitchell aren't quite full blown jazz, isn't quite pop? A lot of people outside of Japan only know her for her work on anime soundtracks and peg her to that stuff.... not realizing that japan's biggest music stars do music for anime on the regular. their respect for the medium is different from ours.
