You're my breh but nah. Martin is a better prose writer by a mile and has created better characters who are multi-dimensional. I like the first couple WOT books but they fall off later, and there aren't interesting characters to guide you through the world building.
While I love ASOIAF we cannot judge it fully until it's finished. If Martin fukks up the ending it'll be hard to hail it as the greatest fantasy series. Personally I think it's better than LOTR - better characters, better prose, better action...LOTR wins on world building and lore.
It's very hard to see the next book, The Winds of Winter, not being one of the best 3 books in the series. It'll mirror ASOS in terms of titanic climaxes based on all the loose ends remaining, plus there are at least two huge battles to come.
The Meereen battle and the Winterfell battle. Plus we might see Euron's attack on the Shield Isles, and Aegon's attack on Storm's End.
I don't think the ending will be perfect but I have confidence that Martin will finish things off well.
If you're a big fan of GRRM like that it's better to check Joe Abercrombie (GRRM even cosigned some of his books) First Law series and his standalone books set in the same universe..
