Few things as powerful in fantasy sports than making that post-draft/mid-season pickup or trade that leaves everybody like :ellen:
I missed my draft for Fantasy Baseball this year but happened to draft first and was blessed with some incredible picks (Miggy, Tulo, Ellsbury, Minor) but it's the moves pickups afterward to balance my team out that just leaves me so
Traded Longoria and Upton for Howard, Lincecum and Nathan which was laughed at, but considering all the power I had, losing Longoria (Miggy and Sandoval were my other 3B's didn't hurt as much, really making the trade for Upton when it all came down to it after having shyt for closers. It helped that dudes I traded to had a trash team that would only improve in a few categories and nothing more. Nathan's been beasting, Howard hasn't been much but can still provide something and with David Ortiz lighting shyt up he hasn't mattered as much. Lincecum was on the end of the bench before I released him just now.
Picked up Jason Castro at catcher, Matt Carpenter at 2nd base after Aaron Hill went down, Jed Lowrie with Asdrubal Cabrera hurt and Melky Cabrera after Angel Pagan went down.
Had shyt for pitching with few exceptions after my offense got stacked (on top of every offensive category, except SB's, where I'm 3rd ranked) so -
Picked up Justin Masterson, Bartolo Colon, Travis Wood and Jeff Locke for my starter's to go along with Minor, Iwakuma, Fister and Bailey and scooped up Gerrit Cole and Zack Wheeler to stash away on the bench. Putz is the only closer I had to start so I picked up Bell to go along with Nathan to hold us down for a bit. Had League for a bit as well but dropped him and Lincecum, and scooped up Betancourt and Chris Perez for the end of the month. No one would trade with me and my boys are making their way to first place. Come July if all goes well I'll have 4 healthy closers after having 1 to start off, and some solid ass arms as my starter's. The offense will keep on rolling with little to no drop off by any moves.
Worst case I'll have to drop two players to maintain the team as is with Heath Bell being one of them. I've built such a balanced team. All it takes is patience. These dudes and their knee-jerk reactions, dropping players as soon as they get hurt for two weeks. Idiots. It's glorious.
