I mean, I'd be ok with it, football has more risk than reward for the majority. Plus creating a love from childhood is rare, so I'd support it, though he's better off teaching his son how to properly prioritize a girl, in private, off a camera.

A 10 year old making any major decision because of a “girlfriend” is crazy. My 10 year old don’t even need to be thinking about that yet. Now pops is doing a lot, but who gives af about 10 year old’s significant other? You gonna finish this season and if you really don’t like football, you can try something else later.
Just based off his readiness to let the whole world in his family's buisness for no gain I wouldn't be surprised if that kid is just trying to get away from him either so who knows.
Kid might not even want to play ball like that really, but I'm biased as I consider sports a very VERY secondary activity
