I dont know about you guys but when ive heard a sample or a beat too many times in my head i cant tell if it sounds good or not, so let me know how its sounding. george benson and minnie rippleton sample.
sometimes ppl overdo the chopping ... you gotta let that bytch breathe!!!I'd call it a penny or a turnip as in you can squeeze blood from it. I think there is potential in the sample or chops but I don't think you've found the best usage. You should experiment with different drums and see what you can come with.
The thing with pennies is that it's easy to come up with nothing. They are harder samples that a lot of people would pass on or discard .they are samples that generally when you create something out of, people say "how the hell did you do that? " anyone can take a super hot or easy sample and make an average or wack beat where it's just a 2 or 4 bar loop. To me some of the best sampling is with chops, lil pieces that equal a large puzzle or picture. Granted I like to come across dope sections where I can just sample and loop, that's rare for me, I'm not that lucky or don't always have the ear for it.
agreed too much chopping can be a clusterfukk but its important to have some variety, a transition--nice drums or bass. that doesnt mean an abundance of drums and drum sounds just something to give it swing or a groove.sometimes ppl overdo the chopping ... you gotta let that bytch breathe!!!
