In a sick way, they make the game more interesting/exciting/thrilling/heartbreaking.
As far as sports go, at the root of this hate, in most cases, lies some appreciation or respect for these players because these are the players who have killed our teams, who have threatened the legacy of our favorite players, who have just gotten underneath our skin for some reason. And deep down inside, when we are doing our best to be neutral and objective about the predicament, we are forced to concede that there is something undeniably great about these players.
Let's give these sons-of-bytches some just due. Here's a toast to these scumbags.
