VERONICA MARS CAST REUNITES FOR PLAY IT AGAIN, dikk
Just when you think you're out...

Veronica Mars isn't going anywhere. The television series that aired from 2004-2007 recently made a comeback in the form of a crowdfunded film and books penned by series creator Rob Thomas. And now? It's headed to the web. Theannouncement about the new web series happened in January, and BuzzFeed has just revealed over a dozen members of the Veronica Mars cast are reuniting for Play It Again, dikk.
dikk Casablancas, portrayed by Ryan Hansen, won fans over with his devil-may-care attitude and goofy demeanor. Play It Again, dikk will focus on Ryan Hansen attempting to capitalize on the popularity of Veronica Mars and trying to get a show all about dikk Casablancas on the air. It's about as meta as meta gets.
Here's who you can expect to see in Play It Again, dikk and who they'll be appearing as: Kristen Bell as Veronica Mars and herself (Bell will be shown reluctantly agreeing to reprise her role as the detective for the spinoff within the spinoff), Jason Dohring as Logan Echolls and himself, Enrico Colantoni as Keith Mars and himself, Percy Daggs III as Wallace Fennel and himself, Daran Norris as Cliff McCormack and himself,Francis Capra as Weevil and himself, Kyle Gallner as Beaver Casablancas and himself, and Christopher B. Duncan as Clarence Wiedman and himself. Whew. Ryan Devlin is taking over the role of Duncan Kane, Chris Lowell will just be portraying himself, and characters like Lisa Thornhill and Amanda Noret will only be appearing as their characters on Veronica Mars, Madison Sinclair and Celeste Kane.

It probably won't be as complicated as it sounds.
Two notable faces will be included in the web series as well: Robert Buckley and Rose McIver. The duo is currently starring in Rob Thomas' upcoming series iZombie. The president and head of development from The CW, Mark Pedowitz and Thom Sherman respectively, will even get in on the action and show up in the spinoff.
Play It Again, dikk will premiere the week of September 15th on CW Seed.

Veronica Mars Spinoff Series in the Works at The CW
Rejoice, marshmallows!
by Roth Cornet JANUARY 15, 2014
With Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell's (partially) Kickstarter-funded Veronia Mars movie due out in theatres on March 14, the cult series is once again on top of mind for fans of the quick-witted girl detective. Marshmallows who've been longing for a return of V Mars for years got some good news today.
President of the CW network Mark Pedowitz announced that a Veronica Mars digital spinoff series is in development. Thomas and Pedowitz are in very early discussions, but the latter estimates that it will be about 6-8 ten minute segments to start.
Thomas, who's busy completing the aforementioned Veronica Mars movie, and is writing the pilot for I, Zombie for The CW among other things, has a full plate. The digital series may not appear before the movie is released, but Pedowitz assured the writer that the network would "take it" whenever Thomas is able to deliver it. Of course, it's possible that both Thomas and the network are using the digital format to test audience interest in a renewed Veronica Mars television series.
"Having the opportunity to do anything with Veronica Mars and Thomas - who I'm a fan of and worked with at ABC Studios - is just great," Pedowitz said when asked if the digital series may evolve into one that would air. "I have great faith in Rob that he'll deliver something fantastic. Should it ever turn into a TV series again, hopefully he'll think about it."
There are very few details on the story available. Pedowitz said that Thomas proposed some ideas about potential characters to focus the series on, but nothing specific has been decided yet.
"This was a blind move," Pedowitz said. "Sometimes you step off the curb. I'm sure Rob will deliver, what he's going to deliver I can't tell you."
We will keep you updated as details emerge.

Update: Rob Thomas tweeted a very meta proposal for the digital Veronica Marsspinoff series he has in development with The CW.
The idea is that it would follow actor Ryan Hanson "as version of Ryan" trying to put together a series based on his V Mars character dikk Casablancas.
Take a look at his original tweet:
Again, the series is in the very early stages of development, so his tweet may be Thomas having some fun with the announcement, or this may be the actual premise.
We'll keep you updated as details emerge.
