The way Plato kills Socrates is pretty similar to the way Jesus dies in the bible (opting for martyrdom). Has anyone written anything on Plato's influence on the Bible?

Direct me, bros! :krs:

Socrates was charged with speaking out against the Gods which the state felt was corrupting the youth. He rotted in prison until his execution where he was made to drink poison. He died. Plato was not there.

I dont see how these are similiar stories.

Sorry, poor phrasing. I meant how Plato (the author) tells the story of Socrates (the character) being killed. I said Plato's Socrates to differentiate him from Xenophon's or Aristophanes' Socrates.

Socrates was an important figure. The knowledge he obtained in egypt and brought to greece helped their thought processes which in turn influenced generations in the future.

Can you give some references to how he was spoken of like Yeshua

Both are characterized as opting to be executed. The authors of the texts do this to make them martyrs. By having Socrates choose to be executed by mob rule, Plato makes a pretty strong case for what is essentially totalitarianism (his version of it anyways, rule of the philosopher king)/reason (depending on how you view Socrates/Plato).

It's pretty similar to the what the writers of the gospels do with Jesus. Figurehead is killed, readers feel the injustice, reject the ideology of the killers and accept the figureheads.
