"According to an article published by the BBC, Chinese firm BGI has refined cloning procedures to the point where they can produce 500 pigs per year, performing two embryo implantations per day with a 70-80% success rate. Much of the operation is concerned with producing genetically-engineered animals for research. The biotech firm's other work includes million-individual-scale animal and plant genetic sequencing."

why? We have enough of them
There is a lot of knowledge to be learned...

A clone will be perfect for organ transplantation, blood and bone marrow transfusions...If you are affected by a disease that doctors can't understand, they can look at your clone (although the age difference may be tricky) and figure out how your body functions when it is healthy, and compare it to your diseased body...

Basically, we need the knowledge, and it is worth it, despite all the moral/religious debate against it...

Morals and Ethics only slow down scientific progress...

have you given this enough thought?
I imagine one day we could make one that is not sentient, but as of now, isn't a human clone sentient?

It wouldn't be a clone if it wasn't...However, I have a feeling there will be laws in place to hamper a clone's freedom of expression or choices....He\She would basically be research and free labor\p*ssy...
