He was coach of the Suns from 2003-2008, and led the team to 2 conference finals appearances. Defense had been always been a problem for him, so let's assume that one of those teams were championship material.

Pick one to win and a replacement coach that could have done it.

The Suns were going to win a championship in 06 - 07 when Stat got suspended in the playoffs. They were the best team in the playoffs that year.

D'Antoni discovered Nash ... remember that.

It's not like Phil would have that team as good as they were under pringles

His rep as the worst defensive coach ever is overblown.

Here are the Suns defensive ratings between 2004-08

17th
16th
13th
16th

With Steve Nash and Amare Stoudarmire on the team...those rankings are minor miracles :heh:

Him and dirk didn't win shyt together. It's no surprise both their games got elevated once they moved apart

Steve Nash won an MVP over Kobe Bryant, he never was that good in Dallas

Nash's peak at Dallas was getting Dunked on by Ricky Davis

yeah kobe deserved mvp that year on a 45 win team :comeon:

his stats were inflated due to the fact besides odom the best players on the team were mihm and smush :ohlawd:

They lost because they interior defense was trash. Your not going to win anything with amare and Shawn Marion anchoring the paint.

But The 05',06', and 07' Suns are historically great offensive teams

:stopitslime: He missed one game. They lost a close game at the crib without him and lost the series with Amare on the court. This narrative needs to end.
