Scust @ Piccolo having to raise gohan, basically raised Goten and semi-raised Trunks when Vegeta was too busy getting thrown in the bushes by the script writers.
Lets look at the track record.
Took Gohan and taught him how to be a man after he threw Goku and Raditz in the bushes. The man literally kicked gohan in the woods by himself and told him survive or
. He sonned him, his pops and his uncle. Piccolo gave him his pops uniform but Gohan chose to wear a Piccolo swag namek uniform. 
He taught Goten and Trunks how to brawl when the situation got crucial.
@ Kakarot letting his whole family tree get crushed by one breh. Piccolo was also strong enough to toss Vegeta in the shrubs on several occasians too if he would have wanted to.
Name a fighter that Picc aint influence...
