I think (maybe wishful thinking) Kolek/Deuce/Shamet/Precious can work, but we'll need to see it to find out. Kolek's playmaking and Deuce/Shamet's shooting would compliment each other in theory. Then Deuce/Shamet/Precious defensively could mask Kolek's weakness somewhat.

But the other thing is that Thibs could just learn to stagger his bench substitutions. I know he'll never do it, or it least he never has. But it's nuts that OG was grabbing his elbow, and Thibs STILL didn't adjust.
Part of me thinks Thibs has been spamming the starting unit to speed up chemistry. And it’s working. I’m not even sure it matters who was on the bench.

Last night aside. I think they all treated that like a playoff game. It was meant to be a statement game so they went for it.

Glass half full: we went into the building of an elite team on the opposite coast, and dominated for three quarters until an execution breakdown in the middle of the 4th.

Im not seeing the call for a trade for bench depth. Thibs just has a philosophy of not trusting his bench that has to be adjusted. There aren’t any saviors on the market anyway.

Gotta work with what we have. Take Shamet: For his career, he averages 5-6 more points than what he gave us tonight. Gotta figure out a way to get that out of him and have more efficient substitution patterns

I think part of the reason some are reacting like with in regards to the bench is Deuce didn't play. We needed his defense & shooting. And with him playing, it opens up other people's games in the second unit. Also with him out there, the perimeter defense wouldn't have gotten broken down as much which led them getting to the paint & open shots.

Another reason is one of the biggest, we still don't have Mitch back who provides us with a true paint intimidation & gives us second opportunities on the offensive glass. When he gets healthy, we're going to see the difference in players going to the paint when Mitch is patrolling then when KAT's there. His presence is guaranteed to alter shots. So even if the perimeter gets broken down like yesterday, Mitch will be waiting in the cut to pick up the slack & send attempts into the upper seating lol

I think it would be small but meaningful differences. 20 mins for Deuce instead of 14 for Shamet. 12 mins for Shamet instead of 8 for Payne. 15 mins for Mitch instead of 8 for Precious.

It's only 17 mins, but if that's five minutes of rest for Brunson, KAT, and Bridges, our best three players are just a little fresher when the Thunder make a fourth-quarter push.
