There are different levels. I'm pretty good at mortal kombat for a casual. I hop on the stick i'll remember a decently long juggle combo, a few special moves and even a fatality. But put me up against high ranking people online, i'm getting washed.

That happened to me one time on this small message board back during the PS3/360 gen. Thought I was gonna steamroll these guys in a Street Fighter II tournament with Fei-Long and got my shyt ROASTED.

On the flip side I thought I was just iight at Halo 1 went to a big ass LAN torunament and ended up winning to be fair Halo had only been out for months nobody was that good yet

Learned that when I first started playing online. Locally I could smack the homies / fam, thought I was good but looking back we didn’t do shyt but spam the same moves

When I started to get absolutely washed I took my ball, went home and that was it for fighting games for me

I still play fighting games but only against the ai now. The ai does not have a smug look when it beats me.
