While I agree with the sentiment and principle, it pisses me off that they are all talk and no action

If you cared enough about it then you would be at the ballot box especially during primary election
to elect younger politicians who closely reflect your values and thtat of the changing world

For example, younger progressives primarried Dianne feinstein and pelosi at the last elections
and they lost badly. and would you guess which age group dominated the ballot box, it wasn't the
age group that endlessly complain about term limits and old senile politicians

If you allow boomers and gen x to dominate the ballot box and elect leaders that do not care about climate change and issues that affects your generation the most then you have no right to
complain

Above the fray.
Older people are the ones who consistently vote. Younger voters think their turnout numbers will be high because social media gasses them up to think that there is an army standing with them.
Politicians know which demos register and vote, and which are loud and inactive. The only shocked ones are those whose candidates consistently lose and who turn around the next day copping pleas. "Bu bu bu but my guy only lost because those other voters don't understand politics"

And it would be funny if not for the fact that older people and by extension older politicians are shaping
policies that will negatively affect future generations long after they are gone:francis:

I hope it will not be too late for young people to reflect on their attitude towards voting

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
It depends on what district they’re in and who lives there. Some of them pick easy districts they can manipulate. If you go to a district where let’s say is 90% Democrat which means all you have to do is win the primary, the incumbent will always have the advantage.

I would imagine the majority of the people who actually have complaints with the age of their congressional representatives actually vote.

Its younger people writ-large that don't vote in large numbers.

Which is to be expected, there isn't much to keep them engaged in the political process, direct-democracy is virtually non-existent in the U.S. and it's not as if there are many attempts to cultivate engagement by younger people, outside of the Left-wing parties and organizations.

:yeshrug:

I'm a young person, vote in every election, voice my complaints, and am actively engaged in the process outside of just voting - and it's bleak as hell :wow:

Threads like these always confuse me. Is this just a general vent at something that irks me thread? Because it clearly isn't directed towards anyone in HL, but it's also clearly a response/spin to the Feinstein thread.

Is there seriously anyone on this forum who dedicates as much time as they do reading and consuming political ongoings and discussing it online, yet isn't bothered enough to actually vote?

People don't really care about politicians being older, they care about them not being "progressive". None of these people complain about Bernie or Markey (who was primaried by someone 32 years younger) but they dislike Buttigieg and the like.
