Deadlifts and pull-ups, forearm curls do work on strengthening grip. The bar with the rope attached to a free weight plate is more of a low weight/high rep type exercise.
I wouldn't throw it in the bushes as professional baseball players do it. Professional as in Major League Baseball professional.

it always depends on your goals. you can't always assume people have the exact same goals as you.

some people train for pure strength

some for aesthetics

some for performance in a particular sport

and some for a specific mix of all of the above (with more emphasis on on or another aspect)

if you goal is to work on your forearm for whatever reason (could be performance, could be rehabilitation after an injury, could be cause you want bigger forearms) i don't see anything wrong with it.

that shyt stupid. why isolate forearms when so many compounds require a sturdy grip?

like i said, maybe they're training for a specific sport which requires forearm strength without getting massive. or maybe they do the big lifts and do this as extra.

:what:

This exercise works. I actually have one of those at my house. I played baseball and I can cosign that it is pretty much used primarily for that sport. How about you try it? It'll get your forearms burning.

So doing isolated calf exercises are dumb too?

If your a fighter having strong forearms comes in handy and they had a machine like that in my highscool for the baseball players as it helps with bat speed.

Its worth adding into ure workout

Ive been having elbow pain (too many curls/triceps exercises over the years)...added some forearm strengthening on both sides of the forearm (u can hit those by rolling that up each way)...seems to have helped
