When I was young, going outside meant having fun
People today are outside but on their phones and distracted while having company
Took my wife out for dinner and it was the first thing she pointed out to me
When I took women on dates, we both gave each other full attention
It’s not like that anymore
Going to a bar or club
People were actually dancing and smiling (until crunk music )
Now people just look miserable everywhere
Even at jazz clubs or lounges
My wife and I along with another couple were the only ones dancing or really in the flow of music
People are scared to have a good time because now you can be placed on a summer jam screen for likes and virtual hugs without you even knowing it
Or made fun of for enjoying yourself
Yeah people are OUTSIDE but it ain’t like it was in my formative years
If you didn’t live it, you wouldn’t understand

It's true. You used to see people walking. Now everybody got a car or door service. Barely see kids playing any kid games, Riding Bikes and shiit. You don't even see "wino's" like that. but to deny that there was a robust public social engagement in Black cities from at least the 90s on back is to speak from inexperience. na… it’s true….. this summer I been in a few hoods and seen a lot of empty bball courts and I don’t see kids out playing in the streets as frequently as we used to in the 80s/90s

In my apartment complex in Florida I see kids playing outside and such


When I lived in NYC, people was outside, Central Park used to be packed on the weekends. Resturants were crowded. The various shopping strips in the outer bourghs have a lot of foot traffic, etc.


Street fairs, parades and so on.

We would ride bikes all day everyday when I was growing up and today when I go on a bike ride all I see is +40 year olds like me who did as kids
