Exactly what it says in the title. A lot of women want to be seen as beautiful and be in the spotlight but what they don't realize is that being on that pedestal means that in a lot of ways they will be oppressed or sexually objectified.
The biggest instance of this pertains to music videos when a certain demographic of women complains that they aren't being represented in the music videos yet at the same time they will get upset when they are in the music video because they feel it is objectifying them. That's the oppressive side of being placed on the pedestal.
Ultimately, you can't have one without the other. If you could choose one to be which you you rather be?
Revered, respected and seen as the mother of the Earth, while not being desired in the oversexed light?
Or seen as a beautiful trophy and the reason men do everything they do, while not being respected?
Be a sex symbol, not a sex object.
