Paul Ryan Supported Economic Stimulus Under Bush: 'You Have To Spend A Little To Grow A Little' | ThinkProgress

The things we’re trying to pass in this bill are the time-tested, proven, bipartisan solutions to get businesses to stop laying off people, to hire people back, and to help those people who have lost their jobs. . . .

We’ve got to get the engine of economic growth growing again because we now know, because of recession, we don’t have the revenues that we wanted to, we don’t have the revenues we need, to fix Medicare, to fix Social Security, to fix these issues. We’ve got to get Americans back to work. Then the surpluses come back, then the jobs come back. That is the constructive answer we’re trying to accomplish here on, yes, a bipartisan basis.

I'm actually a little disappointed in Paul Ryan. I thought he really worshiped Ayn Rand and actually believed the shyt he says. I was a little worried he'd be able to sell his fukked up vision and inspire other conservatives to follow that route...

But turns out he's just a lying fraud. :manny:
You know he's a fraud by how he worshipped Ayn Rand like a cult leader for years and said she's the reason he got into public service, then threw her in the bushes and called her an atheist and said he rejects her philosophy when he felt she might cause him some political problems.

I knew he was a fraud when he said his favorite band is Rage Against The Machine.

Believe it or not, a lot of conservatives love Rage Against the Machine. They don't care about the lyrics, they just like the sound. People who love hard rock tend to be conservative anyway.

Tom Morello ethered him.

Tom Morello: 'Paul Ryan Is the Embodiment of the Machine Our Music Rages Against' | Music News | Rolling Stone

Paul Ryan's love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades. Charles Manson loved the Beatles but didn't understand them. Governor Chris Christie loves Bruce Springsteen but doesn't understand him. And Paul Ryan is clueless about his favorite band, Rage Against the Machine.

Ryan claims that he likes Rage's sound, but not the lyrics. Well, I don't care for Paul Ryan's sound or his lyrics. He can like whatever bands he wants, but his guiding vision of shifting revenue more radically to the one percent is antithetical to the message of Rage.

I wonder what Ryan's favorite Rage song is? Is it the one where we condemn the genocide of Native Americans? The one lambasting American imperialism? Our cover of "fukk the Police"? Or is it the one where we call on the people to seize the means of production? So many excellent choices to jam out to at Young Republican meetings!

Don't mistake me, I clearly see that Ryan has a whole lotta "rage" in him: A rage against women, a rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a rage against the environment. Basically the only thing he's not raging against is the privileged elite he's groveling in front of for campaign contributions.

You see, the super rich must rationalize having more than they could ever spend while millions of children in the U.S. go to bed hungry every night. So, when they look themselves in the mirror, they convince themselves that "Those people are undeserving. They're . . . lesser." Some of these guys on the extreme right are more cynical than Paul Ryan, but he seems to really believe in this stuff. This unbridled rage against those who have the least is a cornerstone of the Romney-Ryan ticket.

But Rage's music affects people in different ways. Some tune out what the band stands for and concentrate on the moshing and throwing elbows in the pit. For others, Rage has changed their minds and their lives. Many activists around the world, including organizers of the global occupy movement, were radicalized by Rage Against the Machine and work tirelessly for a more humane and just planet. Perhaps Paul Ryan was moshing when he should have been listening.

My hope is that maybe Paul Ryan is a mole. Maybe Rage did plant some sensible ideas in this extreme fringe right wing nut job. Maybe if elected, he'll pardon Leonard Peltier. Maybe he'll throw U.S. military support behind the Zapatistas. Maybe he'll fill Guantanamo Bay with the corporate criminals that are funding his campaign – and then torture them with Rage music 24/7. That's one possibility. But I'm not betting on it.

The Bush stimulus was tax rebates while the Obama stimulus was government spending.

One put money in the hands of people the other put money in the hands of government.

I highly doubt that Paul Ryan is having sleepless nights because Rage Against the Machine doesn't like him.

LOL @ middled aged men talking about rising up to seize the means of production. Shut the fukk up and sing you idiot.

Ryan voted for the Bush stimulus, along with the Bush tax cuts, the Bush wars, the Bush security spending binge, the Bush prescription drug benefit, the Bush highway bill that included the Bridge to Nowhere, and the Bush bank bailout. Fiscal conservatism my a##!
Can’t wait for Biden to roast this phony in the debate like he did Palin…

Paul Ryan is so vulnerable…he only became a fiscal conservative after 2008.
He has a lot of explaining to do.

With all this info coming out I am probably siding with Biden eating Ryan in debates as well. I originally felt that Ryan would get him.

We all know Obama is going to eat Romney, that is not even up for a serious discussion.

That's why he's a fukking fraud. He cares about the deficit NOW but he voted for everything that created the deficit. Best believe Joe Biden will bring that up in the debate.

I can't wait for the debates. I already figured that Obama was going to eat Romney's lunch, but I am now convinced that Biden is going to do the same to Ryan.

It's funny because the right worships Ryan as some kind of intellectual heavyweight. They play that clip of the healthcare debate at the White House where he "stood up" to Obama all the time as examples of his bonafides.

His record is filled with holes. Biden is going to bytch slap him even worse than Obama is going to bytch slap Romney. At least Obama will try to keep things civil. It's in his nature. Biden doesn't give a fukk.

But in 2008 Obama criticized George W. Bush as "unpatriotic" and "irresponsible" for running up huge deficits. Then as president Obama ran up deficits three times as large as under Bush. That is why Obama is a fukking fraud....he pretended to care about deficits when Bush was president but when he took office he threw all concern out of the window.

Best believe Ryan will bring that up in the debate.

 Word, Skippy. Obama started two wars that costed a trillion on the nation's credit card, added the Medicare part D entitlement expansion without making any attempt to pay for it, and enacted the Bush tax cuts all at the same time.
