I think consent can be a difficult category to establish here. Sometimes it's very real, at other times the levels of coercion involved are hard to measure, especially in these cult-type situations where people are slowly lured in and deceived over the long term into basically becoming mental slaves. Personally, I feel a case-by-case basis is most appropriate in situations like these.
