I realized this in my last year in college after interning in the state house. I found out how to exploit it in my late 20s. I've bluffed my way into meetings and spaces I'm not qualified for (on paper) simply by being able to "keep up" and sounding smarter than the loudest idiot in the room. The trick is to be lowkey yet communicate effectively when it's your turn to speak. And with enough assertiveness, you can take the lead.
