The Panthers secured home-field advantage yesterday, but they lost a key part of their secondary.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera told reporters that veteran cornerback
Charles Tillman suffered a torn ACL in yesterday’s win over Tampa Bay.
Tillman tried coming back from a
partial tear of that ligament, and nearly got through three games before re-injuring himself yesterday.
The move leaves the Panthers down a pair of corners who have started this year, after
Bene Benwikere suffered a broken leg.
Now, the Panthers have a pair of guys opposite
Josh Norman who were out of work this season —
Cortland Finnegan and Robert McClain.
McClain will likely start outside, while Finnegan will continue to cover the slot, as the Panthers proceed into the playoffs.
