Although Top Rank and HBO have been mum on the numbers since the fight first aired nearly two weeks ago, some sources are suggesting that the event did less than 300,000 buys. While that number has yet to be confirmed, the fact that it's taken this long for Arum to comment suggests that the buys were indeed lower than expected, much like they were this time last year when Pacquiao defeated former lightweight champion Brandon Rios. Just like the Algieri bout, Pacquiao vs. Rios took place in Macau, China the weekend before Thanksgiving, and according to Arum, who spoke on the numbers 10 days after the fight, it generated roughly 500,000 pay-per-view buys, though again no official number was released and some industry insiders claim it did less than 400,000 buys.

:mjlol:

That $40m + 35% looking real good right now . .
I thought this would atleast do better than the Pac/Rios fight due to the white factor :mjcry:

I'm calling bullshyt on those number...I refuse to believe this fight broke 200K...I can count the amount of people I know who paid to watch that shyt live on one hand...On top of that not a single bar in my area was carrying this fight...For comparison sakes I had 4 bars around my way carrying Mayweather/Maidana...

There's no excuse. The Algieri fight shouldn't have any effect on the split... Its universally agreed that this should not have been on ppv for obvious reasons

why shouldnt it because only 40 people bought the fight?:aicmon:...if he got 1 million ppv's i guarantee you would be saying the total opposite:mjpls:
all BS aside if pac/arum dont take that deal and make this fight its clear who doesnt want this fight to happen no more debate needed.

You dont have to debate.. both their highest ppvs in 2014 were not far apart from each other in total ppv numbers... We not excepting anything less than 40% . Floydie can accept that or go dowm in history as a scared champion because we dont need him
