Anybody got this disease? The bone protrusion under my knee is really pronounced. Is it a good idea to get it removed? I've heard people say that there is a 50/50 chance that it gets worse/or improves.

I feel you breh. I got diagnosed in highschool, didn't play ball junior year. Doc said my growth was affected by the stress I was putting on the knees. Breh trying to dunk since age 7 and shyt. The knot is pretty pronounced now...never went away either. You can treat it with physical therapy, steroidal injections, shaved down surgically, or knee cap/patella tendon alignment bands etc...

I just weight train my lower body, to keep knee area and muscle in area from atrophying. It's gonna get arthritic too. :why:

sorry to hear that man.

i had a bad lower back injury 12 years ago that put me out of commission for a few months.

a couple years ago my back went out on me again and i was spasming to the point that i could not get out of bed.

other than that i have been treating it with stretching and biking.

keep us updated.

WOW you took me back. I had that shyt in high school...a LONG TIME AGO :old: ...I had a removable cast I could take off at night. Wore it for 3 weeks or so. I was fine after. Surgery was never suggested to me. I had that lump right under my knee. shyt was painful...and if I ever banged the lump on something it was straight :deadrose:

Yeah, it's typical in teenagers or growing bones. Those adults that still have issues with it usually have active lifestyles. I have additional calcium deposits on elbows to...overgrowth of bone. Wolverine shyt brehs

I have had it in my left knew since middle school. It started when I tore cartilage in my left knee in 7th grade while playing ball. Tearing a cartilage is very rare at that age, especially when you are still growing :sadcam:

It led to osgood shalatters and tendonitis by the time I was in high school. I was very athletic...was dunking by the end of 8th grade at 5'7" and I think being able to jump and explode like that at young age made things even worst coming off of the torn cartilage. My parents are African and were anti-sports, so did not let me play sports passed middle school :sadbron: I still played everyday after school with friends and I got bad tendinitis at times...it really sucked. Eventually, I stopped hooping for a while because the pain on some Amare type sh!t.

Then, I realized the importance of doing everything I could to strengthen my knees through exercise. I "pre-hab" my knee at the gym with various leg exercises. I started doing squats around the time I was 20, something that people with "bad" knees avoid. This was a :blessed: for me. Not only did I strengthened my ligaments and tendons that support the knee around the area that was affected, but I also got my explosiveness back. Although, I still have pain there, it is less frequent. I also wear a knee sleeve for better compression if I play ball. I still need to get an arthroscopic clean up in the knee, but I don't believe I need major surgery.
