It would pain me to let go of Godfather III (I think it gets a bad rap and was tempted to put Scarface in its place). But there's no getting rid of Goodfellas (overrated, IMO) or Casino (underrated, IMO). I wouldn't put Donnie Brasco on the level of *any* of these films, but I enjoyed it tremendously. I didn't buy Johnny Depp as a hood (real OR fake), but Michael Madsen played the hell out of Sonny Black, seeing that he's not Eye-talian.

So, brehs! Which flick you sayin' FUHGEDABOUTIT to?

Breh, I'd get rid of my godson's 1st Communion video before I get rid of Godfather II. And if you catch me on the wrong day, I'll get rid of my godson before I get rid of Godfather II. Would Scarface in place of G3 be fair, seeing that's not a traditional mob flick?

If you were doing gangsta flicks then sure you could put Scarface in there. But Scarface ain't a mob flick. Maybe you could put a Bronx Tale in there instead

The answer is easily GF3 imo.

I agree that Goodfellas is overrated to a degree. My biggest reason being that it really doesn’t have much to say about anything. No greater depth, no moral to the story.

Fortunately it is also EXTREMELY well made on all fronts and is intensely gripping from the first frame down to the very last. Just an overall supremely entertaining and engrossing film.

This is one of it's biggest strengths imo. It's not didactic, isn't moralizing and doesn't beat you over the head with any type of "these men are horrible people" message. Just depicts the mob in a realistic, matter-of-fact type of way and trusts the audience to make our own conclusions.

You wouldn't miss Casino!? I'd get rid of Goodfellas before Casino! And truth be told, I could give up Donnie Brasco over G3. Entertaining film, like I said, but I don't consider it a classic. Even though G3 is so reviled, it's still a classic. DB is that flick I catch on a rainy day.
