When the Co-Op first came together, they were all worried about the New York boys. They had that meeting at the hotel lobby and the room was full of of bosses and all of them. We’re worried and complaining about the New York boys taking their business? Shyt made no sense. You got a room fill off dozens of boxes so every boss must have at least two crews of soldiers and they couldn’t work together(the irony of it being a Co-op) and run them New York boys off their corners. Marlo had a crew but his crew couldn’t have Outnumber the collective crews of all those bosses in that room. Made Baltimore look weak, soft. And then the way Marlo came in and took over all them and they ain’t say shyt. They couldn’t just band together and overpower him. Omar by himself was giving Marlo and His crew problems But that room full of a dozen bosses were that scared.

I wish they would've done a season where the brought NY more in play, than a few crash dummies they portrayed. Would've been cool to see a NY Barskdale type trying to really muscle in Bmore.

Not every crew member is muscle. The NY drug dealers and Marlo were stronger in the street. Think of how Marlo dismantled the Barksdale's he had more muscle despite Stringer having plenty of crew members. Not everyone is willing to or good at laying the murder game down.
He dismantled the Barksdale because their was discention at the top. Stringer didn’t want to war with Marlo. Avon wanted to go all out but he couldn’t because of Stringer. Slim had the drop o bum but because of Stringer snitching, Avon couldn’t communicate with Him and give him the green light plus he was battling Omar at the same time he was battling Marlo.

Marlo had the connect with The Greek after killing Proposition Joe
The Greek was their main supply
This happened after the point in the story I’m referring too. It’s funny though because the BMore bosses reference the NYers as Walmart but didn’t realized that Marlo was the real Walmart

Kinda shows how deep away from the street they really were because they couldn’t see Marlo for what he really was before they pressed to get him In. They thought Marlo was like them. Only Slim and Avon Knew what was up and how to deal with Marlo but they didn’t have the backing

OK he beat the Barksdale's because of discretion at the top but he took over the co-op cause he had the superior muscle. :manny:

Above the fray.
OP,

They used Marlo's henchmen instead of risking their own goons catching charges for murder.

Marlo taking care of their problem was his price of admission into their co-op.
Nobody could have seen Marlo taking over, or planned for it. Marlo took a gamble by hitting Joe and then hoping that the connect would work directly with him. If they turned the faucet off, it all backfires on him

Look at HungryMan for Example...all hellfire piss and vinegar when sitting at the table...but when he got snatched up he was just pissing.

And that was the Co-op in a nutshell, Good businessmen.....but not a gangsta among them...Hell Look at Prop Joe!! He was the template for the co-op hustlers as was a guy like Stringer who was a cold blooded mf...but a gangsta he was not.

Fat face Rick got ran up on by Omar....Sans Muscle smh
They crews was lacking killers
And you're right OP....it did make Baltimore look soft....which Marlo took notice of and promptly co-opted the co-op into the Stanfield organization....terminated the meetups and everything,

The co-op existed before Marlo joined. In fact, the fact that it existed is probably why the bosses didn't have active shooters on deck.
Had Stringer gotten his wish, Avon's organization would have eventually joined and gotten soft too.

Honestly though, drugs was always going to be there, fukk the greek if he wants to lose the whole baltimore market over staying loyal to a dead Marlo, they should've just gotten Marlo out of there anyways
