They made a ridiculous amount of money off those gimmick bracelets and sponsored the arena. The arena owners weren't going to turn down free money.

A lot of players still wear those bracelets too. The power balance bracelets, the ion bracelets, the titanium ion necklaces, etc are all used heavily by naive, superstitious athletes. None of that shyt does anything.
