... in the WWE

I don't know but he was so scared of being buried and protective of his legacy that he missed his chance to go from a WCW legend to wrestling god...

Ric Flair and him both were the faces of WCW... Flair jumped and only added to his legacy by winning the royal rumble, being a WWF champion, but has been given the royal treatment by the WWE in terms of a wrestlemania send off, inducted twice in the HOF, the whole nine... going to the E ultimately ended up elevating Flairs career to god status...

Sting on the other hand will always be looked at as "great WCW wrestler" there is always that nagging feeling he didn't do it in the big leagues, i see him as a wrestling legend but not a icon like he could of been....had he gone in his prime or at least when WCW folded he would of probably had at least a title run or some legendary fueds and had a flair type career but at best, he ran like a coward and stayed in TNA where his legacy would be protected...

am i the only one who loses respect for him??

I might be in the minority in this, but I think he did the right thing in protecting his legacy by not going over there. He never had to job out and take a backseat to homegrown WWE stars like everyone else that came over from WCW had to do. Hell, the most successful WCW alum was Booker T and almost all of his success came on the B-Show.

he did mention that Vince would never push anyone he didn't create...

Has Vince actually pushed someone he didn't create before? Eddie and Benoit maybe but they were more rewarded for basically abandoning wcw and the same with paul wight...coming over because you have no choice...how did that work out for Booker T and Buff Bagwell?

Sting not being in the E doesn't hurt his legacy. He's known as the franchise player of WCW and always was gonna be known for that. He was right in not trusting them. They put Benoit and Eddie through the ringer before getting behind them and Booker was made into a comedy champion and then destroyed when Batista came back from injury. They even used to build Cripple H back up at Summerslam 2007 once.

Vince wouldnt have done right by Sting i dont think but i would have liked to see him there for a run after WCW folded. But i cant be mad at him for staying true to himself and never joining WWF/E. But i defintiely would have though he would joined there before he chose TNA. I guess he didnt want the schedule that the E has though.

I don't know. When people remember Ric Flair, no one really mentions his WWF run. They'd probably mention his NWA/Jim Crockett run over that :manny:

Sting not showing up for the InVasion was probably best for his legacy.

I think never being the top industry draw champion at any company, ever, and his heels being more over than he was, in addition to driving the draw of every fed he was associated with when he was at top, does more to hurt his legacy than never being in wwe :youngsabo:

Sting helped his legacy by not being in WWE

He's the one that got away and the internet going nuts whenever they think he's jumping proves it :smugbiden:

you guys keep mentioning Booker T...yeah he lost to Triple H but did you forget he ended up winning that same title again over Rey Mysterio...is about to be inducted into the HOF, had one of the GOAT king of the ring runs and had a pretty damn good career in the E... don't see how it hurt him at all...If Booker never joined the E after the invasion angle, he would be Scott Steiner Status right now

and did Vince Bury Flair??? no... so why would he bury Sting??? he had Flair enter the Royal Rumble as #2 and win it to have a tremendous title run with legendary fueds...so why again does everybody assume he woudl bury sting.... Sting is not a 1-trick pony like Goldberg...Sting is very marketable, very well respected, can work, huge fan base... the notion vince buried all the WCW guys is overblown and based off a few examples..

Jericho? The Giant? Eddie? Benoit? Flair? Mysterio? Booker? they all had successful careers in the E and world title runs ...all of them...soem of them multiple times.....i mean, he had Benoit beat two kliq guys shawn michaels & make Triple H tap in the main event of wrestlemania...the match before he had eddie guerrero beat Kurt Angle.... i don't see why people assume sting would be jobbed out

Nah, no reason to lose respect... but it woulda been good to see him go there.

The thing about Sting that says that he prob. wouldn't have gotten shytted on is that he was one of the definitive stars of his era. There's real money and dream matches to be had with Sting. As much as I respect Booker, he was never who Sting was to WCW or to wrestling. I don't think he would've gotten the same treatment Dallas Page or Buff Bagwell or a hobbling Scott Steiner got.

BUT going during the Invasion wouldn't have been a good idea, because that storyline was trash. Any time after that, he would've likely been a viable part of the show. It's kinda wack to think he might actually end his career in TNA and not get at least one big WrestleMania match in his career.

He'll prob. still get in the Hall of Fame tho'... eventually... :bryan:
